This Florida hiking trail located just outside of Naples Florida has quickly become one of my favorite trails for both day hikes and short escapes. Whether hiking or mountain biking this southwest Florida trail allows you to quickly get away from the hustle and bustle of the Naples Florida peak season and immerse yourself with the beauty and tranquility of nature. You can even enjoy the silence of the woods which is a rare treat in this area especially during the peak season. Along the trail take a moment to forage up a little trail snack as well!
This trail offers a nice although somewhat small parking lot with two outhouses settled in along small pond that is always host to a variety of bird species and fish. Watch the edges and you will often see an alligator sunning along the edge of the lot. There are a couple of picnic tables sitting in the shade and a small platform to sit and enjoy the activity on the pond.
This free Florida hiking trail is great for all ages and fitness levels. The wide easy to hike or bike path starts out gravel, cuts across swamp on a scenic boardwalk, and then traverses an old logging road for a total trail distance of twelve miles. For the adventurous types there is also a trail connecting this to the Crew hiking trails of of Bonita Beach road in Bonita Springs Florida. Walk in around 1.2 miles to the lake and back gibes you some great exercise, immerses you in natural beauty, and gives you ample opportunity to see a variety of wildlife. This is another great Florida hiking trail offered by the CREW.
WARNING: Alligators are present on this tail
If you are uncomfortable walking by alligators that are directly on the trail than this is not the trail for you. If you do hike this trail I do not recommend bringing your dogs with.
